A
group of political prisoners in Iran have expressed concern about the
condition of imprisoned Ayatollah Kazemeini Boroujerdi and called for
urgent action to end his suffering. In a joint open letter, 21 political
prisoners in Evin Prison in Tehran and Rajai-Shahr Prison in Karaj
called for the attention of human rights organizations to Mr.
Boroujerdi’s condition.
The
political prisoners said that “Mr. Boroujerdi, 57, has spent more than
3,000 days in prison being denied the right to have access to a lawyer
and has spent 400 days in solitary confinement. In addition, because of
improper situation of prison and continuous tortures, he is suffering
from various illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney
and heart problems".
Recently,
his situation is very disturbing and inappropriate due to 44 days
detention in quarantine execution, and 16-day hunger strike led him to
nervous shock.
As
a result of the experiment was conducted by the prison clinic, his
blood sugar was 600, which is very dangerous. Even his toe turned to
black and it is feared that his disease with Gangrenous. In these
conditions, he is deprived of physician and medical attention. In a
recent meeting with family on 3 January 2015, two prisoners had to
assist Mr. Kazemeini Boroujerdi to walk from his cell to visiting room.
Furthermore,
On August 7th after 45 minutes of anesthesia, Mr Kazemeini Boroujerdi
was examined by five physicians, including the head of the medical
clinic in Evin prison and other internist who were present but the
authorities of Special Clerical Court emphasis that for receiving
medical care and treatment, he must retreat from his intellectual
positions.
Mr.
Kazemeini Boroujerdi mass is opposes with the country's theocratic
ruling system and advocates the separation of religion and state, and
for these reasons he is in the slow death situation for years, and his
family was harassed as hostages government .
In
2006, his elderly mother who was arrested along with him as well as
entire family and many of his relatives. After Mr.Boroujerdi's mother
released, she died in the hospital, and the authorities was not allowed
him to attend the funeral.
Furthermore,
in order to get confessions from his family, his six-month-old
granddaughter was abused in section 209. In this eight-year period each
one of them separately was arrested and tortured and their case is still
open in Special Clerical Court. Mr .Kazemeini Boroujerdi's wife and
children are suffered from absence of him emotionally as well as
economic and social problems; his children are deprived of education in
public universities and no right for having job.
We
the signatories of this letter, who are serving in a similar situation
in Iranian prisons, provide this short report for asking of all awakened
consciousness in the world and human rights defenders who are not
silent about the inhumane torture and the status of prisoners and
demands urgent action to end the suffering of this prisoner of conscience.
