Boeoujerdi Issues Public Message of Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV

Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV, the 267th Supreme Pontiff, who now bears the solemn responsibility of guiding and leading Catholics worldwide. I extend my greetings to his followers and to those who walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God (Ruhullah). I respectfully call on him to pursue innovation and allow the old shells to be broken — just as the previous Pope had begun to take steps in that direction.

It is universally acknowledged that Jesus Christ lived without wealth, possessions, or family. He owned nothing and led a life of simplicity and humility. Yet, it is unfortunate to see that today the Vatican holds vast accumulations of wealth — wealth that sincere believers offer out of love and devotion to Christ. Many churches possess extensive endowments and assets, which stands in stark contrast to the life and teachings of Jesus, the Spirit of God.

How truly admirable it would be if this wealth were generously shared among the needy, both Christians and non-Christians alike, as a means to soften hearts and ease suffering. What genuine need does the Church have for such material riches? What purpose does the Vatican serve in accumulating vast sums of money? The Vatican holds a position of great prestige, importance, honor, and authority—qualities deeply rooted in the hearts of Christians worldwide. Moreover, should further steps be taken to clearly demonstrate that the Supreme Pontiff, bishops, cardinals, and priests have truly renounced worldly attachments—just as is widely recognized of the nuns who have forsaken their former lives.

It is well understood that renouncing worldly possessions is a principle held in high regard. However, recent revelations about the vast wealth maintained by the Vatican and many churches invite reflection. It would be a meaningful innovation if the beloved new Pope were to break with tradition by declaring that these resources be shared among the numerous Christian needy worldwide. After all, it is difficult to reconcile the fact that Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God, renounced worldly possessions, while His successors seem to take a different stance toward wealth.

As an individual deeply engaged in the research of religions and faith traditions, I respectfully and earnestly call upon you to transcend the antiquated structures of traditional Christian thought. Before such transformative initiatives take root within Islam, I sincerely hope you will rise to the occasion—leading by introducing forward-thinking ideas for the betterment of humanity and pioneering new models of service for those in need.
